DEREK ROBINSON EXTENDS CONTRACT WITH WILSON
CHICAGO, January 29, 2004 - Wilson Racquet Sports is pleased
to announce world ranked racquetball player Derek Robinson
has signed a long term agreement to extend his Wilson contract.
Robinson, who has been with Wilson for 10 years, first signed
on with Wilson to lead the promotion of its new performance
racquetball racquets. Not only was he instrumental in taking
the company to another level, but he also took his game to
another level, rising to the #7 ranked pro player in the world.
Robinson, also know as "Big D", has established
himself not only as one of the top professional players in
the world, but as one of the best clinicians in the game today.
Robinson has been very active in conducting clinics throughout
the country at hundreds of clubs, maintaining a strong focus
on grassroots growth. The Big D Roadshow appears in over 75
clubs throughout the country each year. With a strong, charismatic
personality, he relates to players of all ages and abilities
and is especially great with the juniors. Robinson dedicates
much of his time to raising money for junior programs throughout
the country.
Robinson's role with Wilson reaches beyond his exposure on
the courts. He works closely with sales and marketing to build
the strength of the Wilson brand. "Derek has become an
important part of our team," says Terri Graham, Business
Director for Wilson Indoor Racquet Sports. "He has learned
the business side of things and is a part of all our major
decisions. We look forward to working with Derek for many
years to come."
Robinson resides in Kennewick, WA with his wife Tina and
their son and daughter.
